Job Summary
Provide instruction in the traditional Yup’ik/Cup’ik culture and language to students under supervisor guidance; develop instruction plans and acquire necessary supplies and equipment; supervise students and maintain the classroom; arrange to display student projects in the school and community; contribute input for required student evaluation and progress reports as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Thorough knowledge of the culture, language and traditions of the village
- Knowledge of the Yup’ik language is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in stated areas of expertise
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
- Ability to live and work in a rural Alaskan environment
- Ability to work cooperatively with administrators, classroom teachers, and aides
- Ability to carry out the duties described below
