Job Summary
Deliver a 10-session after-school Traditional Art course on-site at a partner school, one hour per week, for K-12 students. Build foundational to advanced art skills across grade bands, covering line, shape, color, value, texture, composition, shading, perspective, and mixed media. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, maintain a safe and inclusive studio environment, scaffold projects, and guide students toward original work and iterative improvement. Communicate professionally with site staff regarding attendance and session completion tracking, and plan pacing to align with site logistics and outcomes. Prepare for and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction with clear objectives, while fostering portfolio development and presentation of artwork.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 60 college credits (or Associate degree in progress/completed)
- Experience with traditional visual art techniques (drawing, painting, and/or mixed media)
- Experience working with school-age students in structured settings (school, camp, after-school, tutoring, youth programs)
- Strong facilitation skills, classroom presence, and clear communication
- Reliable, punctual, and professional; able to follow school policies and program boundaries
- Comfort managing materials and supporting students through multi-step creative processes
