Job Summary
Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across building trades to ensure safe, efficient operation of District parks and facilities. Lead and coordinate maintenance projects by planning work, assigning tasks, and providing technical guidance to staff. Diagnose issues, recommend repairs, and assist with project planning, budgeting, and cost estimates while organizing work from start to completion. Communicate effectively with staff, customers, and stakeholders, and promote safe work practices including proper PPE use. Support environmental stewardship initiatives by following sustainable practices and policies. This full-time, year-round role requires Tuesday through Saturday shifts from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with potential for overtime and special events. Target salary is $34.98 to $38.92 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Associate's degree or professional certification in a building trade or related field
- Significant, relevant experience (in lieu of formal education)
- At least five (5) years of relevant building trades experience
- Valid Illinois driver's license
- Must be available for required overtime
- Must be available for special events
- Must be available for weather related duties
Desired Qualifications
- Professional certification(s) in a skilled building trade
- Active membership in a relevant professional association
