Job Summary
Perform plant service inspections and repair domestic water, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, and plumbing fixtures throughout the hospital. Conduct routine preventative maintenance on plumbing systems and maintain hot water systems, pumps, valves, and water treatment equipment. Respond to emergency plumbing issues including leaks, blockages, and equipment failures, and coordinate planned shutdowns with clinical staff. Complete work orders, maintenance records, and compliance documentation accurately while adhering to safety procedures and infection control protocols. Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours emergency support.
Required Qualifications
- Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Plumber Certificate or equivalent provincial certification
- Experience maintaining plumbing systems in healthcare, institutional, commercial, or industrial facilities
- Working knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, safety regulations, and infection prevention practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment
