Job Summary
Conduct global trademark clearance searches, compile summaries for attorney review, and assist in preparing, filing, and prosecuting trademark applications and renewals. Review marketing, advertising, and promotional materials across the US, Australia, and ANZ region to ensure compliance with trademark rights, licensing terms, and consumer protection standards. Maintain accurate trademark records, coordinate with internal and external legal counsel, and support enforcement initiatives including takedown requests and dispute documentation. Partner with marketing, R&D, and regional legal teams to champion brand usage guidelines and process improvements. This full-time role is based in Chicago and requires flexibility for time zones and occasional travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 2-5+ years of experience in intellectual property, trademark, or legal support role (in-house or law firm)
- Strong understanding of trademark principles and brand protection
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate legal concepts into practical guidance
- Collaborative mindset with ability to partner across legal and business teams
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel
- Ability to travel
Desired Qualifications
- TM/IP Paralegal Certification
- Experience supporting global TM portfolios
- Familiarity with Australian or APAC IP/advertising considerations
- Experience with TM/IP docketing systems and legal review tools
