Job Summary
Maersk Global Trade and Customs Consulting (GTCC) seeks a Trade & Customs Consultant (Regional) to contribute to local and regional engagements in customs valuation, tariff classification, origin determination, and FTA utilization. The role involves conducting technical research on Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and other international regulations; advising on import/export optimization and risk mitigation; identifying opportunities to reduce duty costs and improve compliance; collaborating across Maersk’s customs clearance, logistics, and warehousing functions in Asia; supporting automation and digitalization efforts; assisting clients with audits and post-clearance reviews; contributing to internal initiatives including business development and thought leadership; and partnering with Sales and product teams to support GTCC consulting growth. Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in trade and customs consulting (or related) and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong analytical and communication skills; willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in international trade, Law, Economics, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- Minimum 4 years of experience in trade and customs consulting firm, law firm or relevant government agency
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more: Customs valuation, tariff classification, origin rules and FTA/EPA utilization (from description)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret complex regulations
