Trade Compliance Specialist

Job Summary
Analyze import and export documentation, including shipping records, licenses, and agreements, to ensure compliance with federal and international regulations. Lead country of origin determinations in accordance with CBP rules and review commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading for accuracy. Monitor customs valuation practices, submit export license applications, and perform export jurisdiction and classification determinations. Participate in internal audits of U.S. import activity to test compliance with CBP regulations and company procedures. Conduct thorough screening for customers, vendors, and partners while collaborating with internal departments to gather information and ensure adherence to export policies. Research potential compliance issues or violations and support resolution efforts in coordination with management and legal.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' related work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, International Relations, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong import compliance experience, including U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and duty analysis
- Experience managing customs brokers and freight forwarders, including performance, issue resolution, and compliance oversight
- Working knowledge of USMCA, including qualification, certification, and origin requirements
- Cross-border U.S./Mexico trade experience, including customs procedures and logistics
- Experience with export licensing under both the ITAR and EAR, including license applications, exemptions/exceptions, and export authorization management
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Shipping, Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations
- Aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing experience

Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting Mexico manufacturing operations (IMMEX preferred)
- Experience in compliance, logistics, or international trade
