Job Summary

Control and dispose of hazardous materials within the lab environment while inspecting equipment and machinery for safe operation. Monitor preventative maintenance schedules, coordinate installations and repairs, and fabricate metal parts and tools. Maintain records for performance, out-of-service, and in-service facilities, and assist with preparing activity and incident reports. Utilize technical expertise to identify and purchase appropriate equipment, tools, and supplies for assigned programs. Respond to complex inquiries regarding college policy and procedures, and serve as a backup for staff duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree and one year of related experience
  • High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience
  • Valid Florida driver's license
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
  • Knowledge of Applicable OSHA regulations and safety procedures
  • Knowledge of best practices in trade and industry labs and shops
  • Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers
  • Ability to build relationships
  • Ability to manage customer expectations
  • Ability to take responsibility for a high level of service
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds
  • Ability to reach and grasp objects
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a video display terminal
  • Ability to use manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors and shades of color
  • Ability to communicate information orally and in writing
  • Ability to receive and understand information through oral and written communication
  • Ability to work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury
  • Ability to experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions
  • Ability to control and dispose of hazardous materials within a lab environment

  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Must be able to complete a criminal background investigation

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of related experience in the electrical field
  • OSHA certification
  • Earned industry-recognized trades credential
