Job Summary
Traction Power Intern will assist in the design and analysis of traction power distribution systems (substations, overhead catenary systems, and third rail), support development of electrical schematics and equipment layouts, perform calculations related to voltage drop and current flow, contribute to technical reports and construction documents, conduct field inspections and site visits, assist in testing and commissioning of traction power equipment, and support maintenance of existing traction power systems. Learn to use industry-standard software/tools, read technical drawings, understand AC/DC power concepts, and develop teamwork and communication skills while contributing to rail and transit projects in a globally recognized firm.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related
- completed at least one year of study
- Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship

- Strong understanding of electrical power systems and circuit analysis
- Familiarity with AC and DC power concepts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license (may be required for site visits)
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software
