Job Summary
Traction Power Engineer to be based in the Madrid Enterprise Capabilities Office with a flexible hybrid work arrangement (in-office + remote). The role focuses on leading and contributing to design development, risk mitigation, and value engineering for traction power systems and substations (AC/DC) for railway projects. Responsibilities include producing technical reports and specifications, liaising with BIM/CAD modellers for drawings and BoQ, ensuring adherence to standards (CENELEC, ANSI, IEEE), coordinating with SE SA processes, attending design team meetings, and defending designs to clients or reviewers. Requirements include experience in TPS substations (AC and DC), proficiency in Spanish, and experience with railway electrification, grounding networks, protections, and distributed control systems. Software proficiency with ETAP and AutoCAD is expected, and the posting emphasizes in-person onboarding at the office and a supportive, global-team culture.
Required Qualifications
- Experience on designing TPS substations both AC and DC railway line
- Strong competency in written Spanish and oral communication
- Railway electrification (DC and AC), design, construction, test & commissioning, and maintenance of electrical substations
- Development of technical specifications of electrical substation equipment
- Design, calculation, and construction of grounding & bonding networks for electric railways in DC and AC
- Design, calculation, parameterization, and test & commissioning of electrical protections in DC and AC electric railways
- Design, installation, test & commissioning, and maintenance of distributed control systems at the substation level, remote control level, and the Centralized Control Center level
- Software: ETAP, AutoCAD
