Job Summary
Repair and replace track components such as ties, plates, and spikes while inspecting track beds and right-of-way to detect and report defects. Operate company vehicles and equipment, ensuring daily maintenance and inspections are completed. Perform special duties assigned by the Track Foreman, including administrative documentation per the Quality Management System. Maintain concentration during standby periods and adhere to safety protocols while working outdoors in all weather conditions. Requires a valid Ontario class G driver's license, one year of railway experience, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds on uneven terrain.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year related experience in the railway industry
- Knowledge of all aspects of track maintenance
- Ability to read and understand specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans and specifications
- Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards, railway engineering safety regulations and safety precautions of the work being performed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient use of computers, tablets etc
- Valid Ontario class G driver's license
- Ability to work rotating shifts including holidays and weekends
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to maintain concentration and mental alertness in a variety of situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
