Job Summary
Developmental Track Welder Trainee opportunity in TTC’s Track & Structures. A 3-year trainee pathway with classroom and on-the-job training that leads to becoming a Track Welder. Duties include learning and applying welding techniques across TTC properties (shop, yard, subway), performing welding with stick and oxy-acetylene, CAD welding, thermite welding, fabricating jigs, setting up cutting and welding equipment, and assisting/leading crews on trackwork projects. Exposure to track bonding, CAD welding, thermite welding operations, and various metals; work may involve removing/replacing pavement and setting track-area indicators. Training and tasks are supervised to build proficiency; the role emphasizes safety, diversity, inclusion, and adherence to TTC policies.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or technical program equivalent
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and safety rules
- Valid Ontario class G driver's license or better; able to pass DZ tests
- Must be able to attend and complete all portions of the training
- Must be respirator fitted and able to use respirators when required
- Knowledge of Ontario Human Rights Code and related accessibility requirements
