Job Summary
Schedule, coordinate, and supervise all personnel for track maintenance operations at the Fountain, AL switching location. Perform weekly track inspections to ensure safe train operations and manage material metrics, tools, and equipment. Install ties, change rails, and plan future track improvements while monitoring work practices and safety-related issues. Work with internal and external customers to support efficient track maintenance standards. Requires physical stamina for outdoor work in varying conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs and using heavy tools like a 30 lb claw bar and 10 lb sledge hammer. Full-time role with immediate eligibility, offering medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401K match, and various insurance benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Must have experience in Maintenance of Way standards
- Prior supervisory experience
- Familiar with and able to apply safety and operating procedures
- Independent starter and must be self-motivated with good communication skills
- Able to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull with confined spaces
- Able to perform physical strenuous work
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs
- Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50lbs of force
- Requires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75lbs of force
- Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
- Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Three or more years of track maintenance experience is preferred
