Job Summary
Operate track maintenance equipment including hydraulic power tools, spike pullers, and rail saws to grind rails, remove spikes, cut ties, and tighten bolts. Work in a team setting to perform routine maintenance and construction on railroad tracks, bridges, and right-of-ways, while loading and unloading materials as instructed. Assist other employees and handle medium to heavy work, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. This full-time, year-round position requires a driver's license and the ability to work outside in all weather conditions and in an extremely loud environment. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to read and comprehend written safety rules, procedure and safety manuals, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, memos and other work-related information
- Able to think and act quickly in responding to emergency and non-emergency situations
- Driver's License in good standing and dependable vehicle
- Must be able to handle medium to heavy work; lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 80 pounds on a rare basis
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations to prevent on duty accidents and injuries
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold
- Must be able to work in an extremely loud work environment
- Applicant must be currently authorized to work permanently in the United States
- Applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
