Track Laborer

Job Summary
As a Track Laborer, you’ll help maintain the safety and reliability of railroad infrastructure outdoors in all weather conditions. You’ll repair and rebuild railroad track using hydraulic or hand tools, remove and replace ties and rails, pull and drive spikes, shovel rock ballast, and load/unload equipment. You’ll inspect tools and equipment for defects, use torches, hammers, jacks, rail saws and other mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools, and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment. The role requires following federal/state railroad safety and operational regulations, working with a certified trainer or supervisor, and completing written forms/reports. The position is full-time (40+ hours weekly) with a varying schedule that includes nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call as needed, and involves outdoor work, walking on uneven surfaces, kneeling, and lifting up to 76 pounds. A High School diploma or GED is required (or equivalent), a valid driver’s license, and at least 18 years old. Pre-employment physical, hearing/vision tests, drug testing, and background checks are required. Relocation assistance is not offered; candidates must live within 50 miles of the assigned location (Concordia, KS). CDL is a plus or may be required. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
- Valid driver’s license
- At least 18 years of age
- Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical review
- Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history
- Relocation: Must live within 50 miles of assigned location or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus or willingness to obtain if required
