Job Summary
Perform maintenance operations including regular track maintenance, landscaping, brush cutting, painting, and facility repairs. Establish track protection within assigned areas according to company rules and federal law. Safely operate motorized equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and pressure washers while transporting and loading materials. Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for teammates on procedures for working around active tracks. Respond to third-party incidents and severe weather events to lead infrastructure clean-up activities. Monitor company communication channels during work hours to ensure prompt review of notifications. Work any shift, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the maintenance, construction, or railroad industries
- CFR 49 Part 213 Subpart A-F qualified to inspect, maintain, and restore track
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able and willing to work any shift or on weekends and holidays based on operational needs as necessary
- Good physical condition to handle the demands of the job, which may include working in various weather conditions and performing manual tasks
- Capable of operating heavy machinery, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and bending for extended periods, frequently lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- 50% travel
Desired Qualifications
- Experience operating light-duty construction equipment
- some college or vocational training
- General knowledge of construction and maintenance fields, including landscaping, facility operations, and maintenance, civil repairs, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical
- Experience working around railroads or railroad operations and an understanding of rail engineering, and/or familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) safety rules and regulations
- Knowledgeable about railway systems, track structures, and maintenance procedures
- Skilled in operating motorized equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, and drills
- Proficient in construction and maintenance fields, including landscaping, facility operations, civil repairs, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work
- Strong focus on safety and attention to detail to consistently deliver high-quality work
- Well-versed in safety protocols and regulations related to maintenance operations
- Effective communicator adept at establishing rapport across all organizational levels, fostering productive relationships crucial for operational success
