Job Summary
Safely operate a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to transport passengers to and from destinations in Coaldale and neighbouring communities. Assist individuals with mobility challenges by supporting boarding and disembarking, and securely position wheelchairs and walkers per safety procedures. Perform physical duties including pushing, pulling, and bending to facilitate passenger movement within the vehicle. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete regular inspections while following established schedules and accommodating necessary deviations. Answer phone calls and online inquiries when the bus is inactive, communicating respectfully to ensure passenger comfort and dignity. Comply with the Safety Program and applicable legislation, including Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Act. This casual contract role offers a fixed daily stipend and flexible scheduling; applicants need a Class 4 licence with an S Endorsement and must pass a criminal record check.
Required Qualifications
- A valid Class 4 driver's licence with a clean driving record
- S Endorsement, or willingness and ability to obtain it
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, respectful, and patient demeanor
- The ability to demonstrate sensitivity and respect toward individuals with disabilities, mobility limitations, or special needs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including early mornings, some evenings, and weekends
- Willingness to undergo a criminal record check and provide a vulnerable sector screening if required
- The ability to complete all physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
