Tower - Foreman

Job Summary

Lead the erection, construction, and maintenance of wireless towers by supervising up to four personnel and ensuring strict adherence to OSHA requirements and company procedures. Direct work on tower tops including rigging, hoisting, fastening, and installing equipment such as masts, antennas, and cabling while maintaining quality control and documenting tasks via photos and JSA forms. Perform coax and fiber installation, grounding, and torqueing to spec, and assist in assembling monopole towers and microwave parabolic antennas. Coordinate site preparation, cleaning, and vehicle maintenance while leading safety tool meetings and mentoring less experienced crew members. Travel 80-100% of the time for full-time, Monday through Friday hours with overtime requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to climb and perform work at various heights, up to 500 feet, for long periods of time and multiple times
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly for long periods of time
  • Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to several months at a time (80-100%)
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing and participate in random testing program
  • Must be willing to continue to work towards training and certifications for tower related work
  • Must know how to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
  • Must be able to lead safety tool meeting as required
  • Responsible for own tool inventory and upkeep daily on job site
  • Must possess valid driver's license
  • A commercial drivers license (CDL) is a plus
  • Ability to operate aerial lifts, man lifts, skid steers and aerial platform equipment
  • Completion of safety LMS and OSHA 10 training preferred as well as competent rigger coursework
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical or LV electrical connections
  • Completion of Industrial First Aid and rescue training
  • Exceptional knowledge of Fall Protection practice and procedures and tower life saving techniques
  • Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue Certification is required
  • Successful completion of safety in rigging coursework required
  • Communicate in person, by phone and radio with supervisor, foreman and co-workers
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions
  • Must be able to work with a team, and independently as required
  • Must be able to lead crew in support of foreman
  • This position will directly supervise up to 4 tower personnel
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Three years' experience in climbing towers, stacking, rigging, etc.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Must be able to work long and unpredictable hours
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
