Job Summary
Program Chef to lead Brigaid’s work with Torrance Unified School District across 29 sites, overseeing training, menu development, systems rollout, and district collaboration. Responsibilities include conducting regular staff training across sites on culinary, safety, and operational best practices; leading production and implementation of new systems and HACCP programs; developing recipes and NSLP-compliant menus; planning and executing student tastings and menu rollouts; assisting with procurement and vendor sourcing; participating in interviews for staff and district/community events; maintaining progress documentation and coordinating with district leadership and Brigaid regional chef; ensuring adherence to USDA/health guidelines and Brigaid standards; traveling between sites, with readiness to support travel and relocation as needed. Skills include leadership and teaching abilities, deep knowledge of foundational cooking techniques, NSLP guidelines, safety/compliance, project management, and basic computer literacy (Microsoft, Google, Zoom).
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of professional cooking experience in a non-institutional setting, including at least 2 years in a kitchen supervisory role
- ServSafe Manager certification or ability to take a Brigaid-sponsored course and pass the exam during initial training
- Successful completion of two to three background checks prior to start date
- Ability to travel across sites in an efficient manner (with equipment)
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
- Proof of a negative TB test
