Torch Laborer / Crane Rigger (Demolition)

Job Summary
Conduct strenuous manual labor at construction sites by operating hand and power tools, digging trenches, erecting scaffolding, and hauling materials. Load and unload trucks, clean job sites, and secure equipment daily to eliminate hazards. Assist other craft workers and identify underground or overhead utilities before excavation. Review trenching requirements with superintendents and report known actions affecting operations to management. Maintain safety protocols and incident reporting procedures while working in variable weather conditions near loud machinery. Perform tasks requiring lifting up to 100 pounds under adverse field conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six to twelve months of construction experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge and ability to work with equipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work
- Ability to follow proper use and safety guidelines at all times
- OSHA 10 certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety precautions and procedures
- Ability to view and understand safety training video
- Willingness and ability to perform manual work
- Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, external vendors and other business associates
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements
- Torching experience
- Crane rigging experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Union affiliation or willingness to take the necessary steps to join the union
- Must be flexible regarding work hours
- Must be willing to travel as needed
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend knees, stretch arms, speak, and hear
- Must be able to stoop or kneel
- Must pass a drug and alcohol screening, which may include testing for marijuana
