Job Summary
Topmen lead trench crews in installing and modifying sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water utilities in excavated trenches; assist foremen with grading elevations using transit and pipe lasers; mentor pipe layers and ensure utilities are installed per plans and standards; perform related concrete work for utilities; operate small tools and equipment; maintain PPE and safety protocols; heavy physical labor in varied weather and site conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience laying sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water utilities
- Experience using trench safety & shoring
- Experience using small tools and equipment
- Ability to read and understand survey staking
- Ability to read project plans and jurisdictional standards/details
