Job Summary
Conduct advanced tree trimming and removal while aloft or using aerial lifts, and lead tree felling, rigging, and clearance activities near energized lines. Support and direct crews in ground-level pruning, set up work zones, and manage traffic control. Operate heavy equipment including chippers and trucks, apply herbicides per guidelines, and inspect tools. Ensure team and public safety by identifying hazards and communicating clearly, while training crew members on climbing and safety practices. Participate in emergency response and storm work as needed. This role requires two years of tree crew experience, ANSI Z133 safety knowledge, and electrical circuit basics. Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience on tree crews
- Completion of all Top Trimmer-level qualifications
- General knowledge of tree identification, growth habits, and proper pruning techniques
- Knowledge and understanding of ANSI Z133 Safety Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of A300 Pruning Standards for arboricultural operations
- Advanced skills in tree ascent/descent using ropes and a safety saddle
- Skill in aerial lift operations
- Proficiency in electrical circuit basics
- Ability to interpret circuit maps
- Top Trimmer Technical Knowledge and Skills Certification (or ability to complete)
- Valid driver's license
- CDL
- Required medical certification
- CPR certification
- First Aid certification
- Ability to lead others
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. to shoulder height or higher
- Ability to push or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk or hike up to one mile on uneven terrain
- Ability to hear, speak, see, and communicate effectively
- Ability to operate two-handed tools and equipment
- Ability to progress skill in tree ascent and descent
- Ability to work and maneuver at considerable heights during adverse weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, handle/grasp, and perform repetitive movements
- Ability to lift/carry, push/pull, stoop/kneel, and reach
- Ability to drive, climb stairs/ladders occasionally
- Ability to work outdoors continuously
- Ability to endure extreme temperatures
