Job Summary
Conduct advanced tree trimming, removal, and line clearing operations aloft or using aerial lifts for utility vegetation management. Lead job site setup, traffic control, and crew activities including tree felling, rigging, and ground-level pruning near energized lines. Operate chainsaws, chippers, and heavy equipment while applying herbicides and ensuring public safety through hazard identification and clear communication. Train crew members on climbing, trimming, and safety protocols, and assist in emergency response and storm work as needed. Maintain vehicles and tools in compliance with ANSI Z133 and A300 standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience on tree crews
- Completion of all Top Trimmer-level qualifications
- General knowledge of tree identification, growth habits, and proper pruning techniques
- Knowledge of ANSI Z133 Safety Requirements
- Knowledge of A300 Pruning Standards for arboricultural operations
- Advanced skills in tree ascent/descent using ropes and a safety saddle
- Skill in aerial lift operations
- Proficiency in electrical circuit basics
- Ability to interpret circuit maps
- Top Trimmer Technical Knowledge and Skills Certification (or ability to complete)
- Valid driver's license
- CDL
- Required medical certification
- CPR certification
- First Aid certification
- Ability to lead others
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. to shoulder height or higher
- Ability to push or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk or hike up to one mile on uneven terrain
- Ability to hear, speak, see, and communicate effectively
- Ability to operate two-handed tools and equipment
- Ability to progress skill in tree ascent and descent
- Ability to work and maneuver at considerable heights during adverse weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, handle/grasp, and perform repetitive movements
- Ability to lift/carry, push/pull, stoop/kneel, and reach
- Ability to drive, climb stairs/ladders
- Ability to work outdoors continuously
- Ability to endure extreme temperatures
