Job Summary
Top Hand will review the scope of work and construction drawings with the Crew Lead, teach less experienced team members, and supervise/direct crew members on daily tasks. The role involves collaborating with the crew foreperson, running the top portion of jobs, and filling in when the foreperson is away. Responsibilities include ensuring materials, tools, equipment, and supplies are available and in working order; inspecting vehicles and equipment; inspecting PFAS before climbing; attending daily tailgate meetings; reporting safety concerns; following the scope of work; communicating deviations; keeping the site clean; capturing and uploading documentation, and preparing for subsequent jobs. The position requires strong safety adherence, experience with wireless construction, rigging, cranes, telecom systems, ability to interpret drawings, familiarity with OTDR/fiber equipment, outdoor work, and a valid Canadian driver’s license. Able to teach others, communicate effectively, and maintain professionalism with coworkers and clients.
Required Qualifications
- 4 years basic knowledge of Wireless construction and tool manipulation
- Rigging experience
- Tower Build Experience an asset
- Gin Pole Experience an asset
- Experience working with and around cranes
- TELUS/Bell/Rogers/Freedom cellular systems experience
- Ability and willingness to teach and develop less experienced team members
- Telecom troubleshooting experience preferred
- Ability to interpret engineered drawings and knowledge of fiber and DC drawings
- Knowledge of OTDR, sweep test equipment, and fiber fusion
- Demonstrate strong adherence to safety procedures
- Good physical condition and comfortable working at heights
- Willing to work outdoors and be exposed to all types of weather
- Valid Canadian driver’s license is needed
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Clean Criminal record
- Maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers and clients
