Job Summary
Top Hand on a construction/telecom crew responsible for reviewing scope with the Crew Lead, teaching less experienced team members, supervising crew, coordinating with foreperson, ensuring materials/tools are on site and in working order, inspecting equipment and PFAS, participating in safety meetings, following engineered drawings, reporting deviations, maintaining site cleanliness, documenting work photos, and preparing for subsequent jobs. Requires 4 years of wireless construction/tool experience, rigging, crane familiarity, fiber/drawings knowledge (OTDR/fiber fusion), safety adherence, ability to work outdoors in varying weather, Canadian driver’s license, and the ability to teach others. Wages are hourly ($25-$43) and the employer emphasizes equal opportunity and a drug-free safety program.
Required Qualifications
- 4 years basic knowledge of Wireless construction and tool manipulation
- Rigging experience
- Tower Build Experience an asset
- Gin Pole Experience an asset
- Experience working with and around cranes
- TELUS/Bell/Rogers/Freedom cellular systems experience
- Ability and willingness to teach and develop less experienced team members
- Telecom troubleshooting experience preferred
- Ability to interpret engineered drawings and knowledge of fiber and DC drawings
- Knowledge of OTDR, sweep test equipment, and fiber fusion
- Demonstrate strong adherence to safety procedures
- Good physical condition and comfortable working at heights
- Willing to work outdoors and be exposed to all types of weather
- Valid Canadian driver’s license is needed
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Clean Criminal record
- Maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers and clients
- Must be dependable, trustworthy and have a positive attitude!
- $25-43 per hour (wage is dependent on experience)
