Job Summary
Store, dispense, receive, and check tools, equipment, and instructional supplies for faculty and students, verifying requisitions match items. Maintain a clean, orderly toolroom by rearranging contents for new supplies and managing inventory of expendables to trigger timely reordering. Perform minor maintenance and repairs on tools and machines, while answering phones and relaying messages as needed. Report any loss, theft, or breakage immediately to the Assistant Dean. Requires evening coverage with heavy lifting up to 50 lbs and basic arithmetic skills.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma from technical high school or trade school
- Education, training, and/or work experience which qualifies person to perform above duties and provides a working knowledge of terminology, tools, and equipment appropriate to trade
- Experience in inventory procedures
- Ability to read and to perform basic arithmetic
- Awareness of security issues and measures for the toolroom and laboratories
- Basic understanding of the repair of mechanical equipment
- High general mechanical aptitude
- May require some heavy lifting not to exceed 50 lbs
- Requires placing and removing heavy objects from high shelves and storage places
