Job Summary
Facilitate mold maintenance and repair activities within the in-house tool repair shop by performing disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of injection molds and hot runner systems. Execute preventive maintenance including lubrication and surface polishing, while safely managing repairs inside molding machinery using overhead cranes and rigging equipment. Document specific mold problems and interface with production and engineering teams to meet urgent standards. Requires a Journeyman's card or equivalent injection mold repair experience, plus machinist skills and advanced rigging certification. Overtime and weekend work are sometimes required.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman's card or certification in tool and die
- Experience repairing injection mold or stamping tooling
- Experience as a machinist
- Experience with injection mold hot runner manifold repair
- Experience in machine components using (non-CNC) metal working equipment such as a lathe, milling machine, surface grinder
- Certification as a welder
- Familiarity with construction tolerances, dimensions, torque values, and surface hardness
- Familiarity with measuring devices such as scales, indicators, calipers, and micrometers to 0.001 inch
- Basic computer skills with experience in Microsoft Applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Use of overhead crane and gantry rigging systems
- Certification in advanced rigging skills
- Forklift and man lift equipment
- Working at elevated heights with use of safety systems and fall protection equipment
- Flexibility in working hours - overtime and weekend work
