Tooling Project Manager

Job Summary

Lead plastic injection mold repair, spare component management, and design change projects by translating technical needs into clear scopes, quotes, and approved schedules. Partner with the Toolroom, Engineering, and Quality teams to define problem scope, coordinate with suppliers, and drive projects from authorization through completion. Prepare technical communications, CAD markups, and cost summaries for internal review and customers while maintaining accurate project trackers for milestones and risks. Manage logistics, purchasing, and documentation for tooling replacements, verify repairs meet approved specifications, and identify opportunities to improve mold reliability and lead times.

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience involving plastic injection molds, mold design, mold building, mold repair, tool maintenance, or technical tooling project coordination
  • Strong working knowledge of injection mold construction, mold components, hot runner systems, spare components, common failure modes, repair methods, and the implementation of mold design changes
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review mold drawings, part drawings, specifications, and CAD models, and to translate technical findings into clear instructions and customer communications
  • Experience coordinating quotations, purchasing requests, work orders, suppliers, logistics, schedules, budgets, customer approvals, and project documentation
  • Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with Toolmakers, Engineers, Program Managers, suppliers, plant leadership, and customers
  • Demonstrated organization, attention to detail, and follow-through while managing multiple tooling projects with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment and knowledge of quality systems, GMP, and GDP

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in tool and die, mold design, mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, project management, or a related field
  • An equivalent combination of education and practical tooling experience
