Tooling and Automation Engineer

Job Summary
Develop and document assembly tooling for new and existing products, covering concepts, estimating, scope of work, quoting, design, build, and validation. Define process steps, sequences, material handling, and preliminary layouts while preparing equipment specifications. Collaborate with product and project teams to explore enabling technologies, define supply chains, and formulate cycle times, efficiencies, yields, and dynamic models. Conduct Product/Process DFMs, FMEAs, and risk assessments, evaluate safety and occupational health summaries, and provide cost criteria for major tooling acquisition. Propose and implement cost reduction activities for mature assembly processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a four-year university
- Proficient with solid modeling tools, (Creo, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Must have experience with automation, PLCs, Machine Vision, and electrical controls
- Project Management Experience
- Spreadsheet software (Excel)
- Word Processing software (Word)
- Presentation software (PowerPoint)
- Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical people
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment
- Demonstrated ability to operate with minimal supervision and provide updates on project status where issues or problems can be reviewed, discussed, and resolved

- Robotics and Controls minors or degrees
- Basic Knowledge with the following processes is a plus: Progressive stamping and Lead-frame Slugout
- Basic Knowledge with the following processes is a plus: Injection molding and Insert molding, Lead-frame Over-molding
- Basic Knowledge with the following processes is a plus: Small component handling and assembly
- Basic Knowledge with the following processes is a plus: Terminal plating
- Basic Knowledge with the following processes is a plus: New product development
- Ability to work in team environment
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
