Job Summary
Tool and Die Technician responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting high-pressure die casting molds and trimming tools in a machine shop setting. Operates conventional tooling machines (lathe, milling, surface grinder) to fabricate or repair die components; analyzes tool failures and repairs dies and production tooling; performs routine maintenance, gate changes, and minor repairs to improve performance; inspects dies for conformance to tight tolerances; interprets blueprints and uses precision measuring instruments to ensure quality, with 2-5 years of tool room/machine shop experience in manufacturing environments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- 2-5 years of experience in tool and die repair, preferably within a die casting or plastics molding environment
- Proficiency in manual machining (lathe, mill, grinder)
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills
- Proven experience in a tool room, machine shop, or similar manufacturing environment
