Job Summary
The Tool Room Technician is responsible for breaking down molds, preparing them for repair, conducting necessary repairs and rebuilds, and testing molds to ensure they are production ready. The role requires disassembling and reassembling tools and dies, troubleshooting issues, and using machine shop measuring devices. The technician will also be involved in repairing hydraulic and air cylinders, conducting air and water tests on tools, and training new employees. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and capable of lifting 30 pounds regularly.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to multitask and prioritize with limited supervision
- Troubleshoot issues and repair, in and out of press
- Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics
- Must be able to disassemble and reassemble tools and dies
- Repair/rebuild mold components like hydraulic cylinders and air cylinders
- Conduct air testing and water testing on tools
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, and mechanically inclined
- Must be able to take direction and work as part of a team
- Own necessary tools to perform work
- Ability to properly use machine shop measuring devices
- Ability to lift and move 30 pounds on a regular basis
- Good attendance a must
- Must be able to work overtime when needed on short notice
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with mold maintenance and machine shop equipment
- Knowledge of Husky manifold systems
- Familiarity with stack molds
- Basic computer skills
- Forklift Certified and able to operate overhead cranes safely
