Job Summary
Tooling Technician responsible for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and optimization of dies, trim tools, fixtures, and related tooling used in high pressure aluminum die casting operations. Performs preventative maintenance and repair on dies and tooling, troubleshoots tooling-related production issues (flash, porosity, soldering, mismatch, dimensional concerns), disassembles/reassembles tooling, and uses welding, polishing, grinding, machining, spotting, and fitting techniques. Coordinates die changes and supports die setup with production and maintenance teams; monitors tooling performance and recommends improvements to increase tool life and process efficiency. Maintains tooling maintenance records, supports new tool tryouts and process improvements, verifies cooling lines, vents, slides, ejector systems, and hydraulic components, supports root cause analysis and corrective actions for tooling failures or scrap, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards. Works closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to achieve production goals.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read blueprints and tooling drawings
- Experience with welding, CNC/manual machining, grinding, polishing and fitting techniques
