Job Summary

Adjust and align tools on pre-set equipment according to machining specifications, then preset, measure, and record tool values on data carriers. Set and change specialty and standard tools in CNC and conventional machining centers, while assembling and reassembling new or re-worked tools for tool crib operations. Prepare and set up fixtures based on drawings, document zero points, and verify tooling quality through inspection and dimensional testing. Manage tool inventory and compile workpiece-related tool sets ready for pickup to support machine operators. Requires ability to work overtime; applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • completion of an apprenticeship or training program
  • 3 years of previous experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial tooling management in a heavy-duty machining environment
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance
  • Ability to obtain appropriate hoists and power vehicle licenses (Flatbed, Hi-Lo, & Mule) when necessary
  • Basic knowledge of a variety of machines and tools such as measuring devices, power tools, taps or dies, and hoists, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control systems, manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
  • Intermediate mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, and repair of production machines
  • Knowledge of MTU products, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engine manufacturing
