Job Summary
Manufacture, repair, modify, and improve tooling, fixtures, workholding devices, and production components to support production requirements. Program, set up, and operate 3-axis CNC machines using Fanuc or Haas controls directly at the machine for tooling and fixture work. Use manual mills, lathes, grinders, and related equipment for repair work, fitting, rework, and secondary operations. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, work orders, specifications, and applicable procedures. Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding methods, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences for assigned work. Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions, tolerances, fit, and function of completed work. Troubleshoot tooling and fixture issues and develop practical solutions that minimize production disruption. Design or modify workholding fixtures and provide input on tooling improvements, manufacturability, and maintainability. Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, NC Programming, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve tooling and production issues. Plan and prioritize work in response to production needs, including urgent repair and support requests, while working with minimal supervision. Maintain accurate records and support compliance with safety requirements and the ISO 9001/AS9001 Quality Management System.
Required Qualifications
- Ten or more years of machining experience, including at least five years performing comparable CNC and manual toolmaking, tooling, fixture, repair, and production-support duties.
- Demonstrated ability to program, set up, and operate 3-axis CNC machines with Fanuc or Haas controls directly at the machine.
- Strong manual machining skills for repair work, fitting, rework, and secondary operations.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and procedure manuals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, dependable attendance, reliability, and willingness to support changing production priorities.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to troubleshoot problems and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods and to frequently use hands and fingers, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch while performing work.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move 10–20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40–50 pounds.
- The successful candidate must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by applicable ITAR regulations.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience designing or modifying workholding fixtures is highly desirable.
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or trade school training in machining, toolmaking, or a related field is a plus.
