Job Summary
Fabricate, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures by interpreting blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances. Set up and operate machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs while performing precision measurements with a wide range of inspection tools. Troubleshoot and resolve complex tooling issues to optimize production, select appropriate materials and heat treatment processes, and collaborate with engineers to improve tool designs and manufacturing processes. This role requires proficiency in reading schematics, understanding GD&T principles, and operating manual and CNC equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or 5+ years of relevant experience
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles
- Proficient in operating manual and CNC machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders)
- Ability to use a wide range of precision measuring instruments
