Job Summary
Build and repair jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies while manufacturing and sharpening cutting tools for the production process. Set up and operate conventional and computer-controlled machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders to shape parts to prescribed dimensions. Read blueprints and interpret instructions to plan operations, select appropriate metals based on hardness and heat tolerance, and perform precision inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other gaging tools. Fit and assemble parts by hand, heat treat and weld components as required, and troubleshoot quality problems with Manufacturing Engineers. Maintain ISO documents, keep work areas orderly using 5 S methods, and perform other assigned responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Certificate of completion in vocational/technical school machine shop program
- 2 years' experience in operating manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, etc.
- Working knowledge of cutting tool geometry
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints, drawings, and other related documents
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including geometry
- Ability to learn new skills
- Ability to prioritize work and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work as a cooperative and contributing member of the Team
Desired Qualifications
- Tool and cutter grinding experience a plus
