Job Summary
Tool/Fixture Maker responsible for constructing, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges. Reads blueprints/CAD drawings to create and build new fixtures and machine parts, selects appropriate materials and processes, and operates toolroom machines (knees mills, 3-5 axis mills, lathes, surface grinders, saws). Applies shop math, geometry, and trigonometry to determine paths and adjustments, and verifies finished workpieces against drawings using precision tools (sine plates, gauge blocks, Cadillac gauge, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators). Works independently, documents labor in ERP, and performs duties under AS9100/NADCAP standards while maintaining safety and quality in an aerospace environment. Shift is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; the role emphasizes collaboration with Engineering and Management, adherence to PPE and safety policies, and ongoing value-added tasks consistent with Hi-Tek’s mission and tooling capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience operating toolroom machines (mills, lathes, grinders, saws)
- Proficiency with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
- Ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings and interpret GD&T
- Ability to perform geometry/trigonometry for tooling paths
- Experience in aerospace/manufacturing environment (preferred)
- ITAR compliance (U.S. person)
- English communication skills (written and verbal)
