Job Summary
Tool & Die Maker / Fourslide: Set-up & Maintenance of Tooling including first piece quality submission; fabricate tools, fixtures, and gauges; document tooling history and set-up information; alert supervisor to machine/tool maintenance needs; collaborate with New Tool Group on introducing new tools into production; assist in standardizing tooling component inventory and in developing project/tool estimates; support department set-up, problem-solving, and tool production; assist managers on metal stamping and four-slide projects; train apprentices; adhere to lean and quality standards; flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in Component/Tooling Fabrication
- Troubleshooting tooling and repair experience
- Set-up and trouble shooting of Four Slide equipment (Nielsen, BIHLER) in Four Slide Production
- CT approved apprenticeship completed journeyperson
- Ability to read and understand blue prints and GD&T
- Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) in production
- Familiar with ISO quality standards; experience with ISO13485 and AS9100 environments
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing and related tools (Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, 5S)
- Knowledge of concurrent engineering and DFMA (design for manufacturing and assembly)
- Experience with production standards, cost of quality, and manufacturing methods
- Self-starter with strong work ethic
- Physical ability to read directions and prints and operate machinery
- Manual dexterity for precision work
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
