Job Summary
Tool & Die Maker analyzes orders and blueprints to determine material and process, sets up and operates milling/shaper/grinder, performs heat treating, cuts and shapes prototypes, lays out stock, inspects machined parts for conformance, operates water jets, and suggests design improvements. Requires 5+ years of experience, an Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool & Die and/or Toolmaker Journeyman’s Card, CNC and CAD/CAM proficiency, knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics/welding/brazing, strong math skills, and a safety-focused approach to maintaining a safe workplace.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool & Die and/or Toolmaker Journeyman’s Card
- 5+ years’ experience as a Tool & Die Maker
- Proven ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Proficiency with CNC equipment
- CAD/CAM software proficiency
- Knowledge of hydraulics, welding, pneumatics, brazing and soldering
- Strong mathematical ability and tolerance tools (±0.0002)
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker
- Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool & Die and/or Toolmaker Journeyman’s Card
- Proficiency with CNC equipment
- CAD/CAM skills (3D Modeling, CAD Software Systems)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, CMM systems
- Strong knowledge of blueprints, tolerances, and inspection methods
- Knowledge of hydraulics, welding, pneumatics, brazing and soldering
- Ability to interpret drawings and develop specifications
- Safety-conscious with PPE and workplace safety adherence
