Job Summary
Tool & Die Maker role on 2nd shift focusing on producing dies and tooling to print specifications with tight tolerances across multiple machining processes. Responsibilities include maintaining and refurbishing dies, sharpening and shimming, heat treating tools, mentoring others in machining, preventative maintenance, reading strips, evaluating dies and press setups, designing/refurbishing dies and gages, root-cause analysis of die issues, testing new dies, building fixtures, and pursuing upgrades to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Required Qualifications
- Lathe operation within .001" tolerance
- Milling machine within .001" tolerance
- Surface grinder within .0002" tolerance
- Cylindrical grinder within .0002" tolerance
- Drill press within .001" tolerance
- Power saw with .03" tolerance
- Maintain dies and tooling to print specification
- Sharpen and shim dies to die specifications
- Heat treat all cutting tools to print specification
- Train/Mentor other associates in machining practices
- Perform preventative maintenance on dies to schedule (TRT)
- Read strips accurately and create TRT when applicable
- Repair and maintain dies, components and fixtures using tool & die techniques
- Evaluate and support press set-ups (die sets, accessories, safety equipment)
- Design/build/refurbish dies and gages
- Analyze broken/ineffective dies and implement corrective action
- Test/try out and develop new dies or upgrades
- Build tool & die components, jigs, fixtures and gages to print specification
- Evaluate tools for upgrades to reduce maintenance costs and improve production efficiency
