Job Summary
Repair, maintain, develop, and build dies while performing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing on component and frame assembly drawings. Address quality concerns in tooling operations, implement engineering changes, and execute repairs for bad hits or double hits. Changeover tooling for different parts, use circle grid analysis to reduce material stretch, and maintain nitrogen systems and spare parts inventory. Identify tool steels, perform heat treatments, and study die transfer systems, blank feeders, unloaders, and power feeds. Understand hydraulic and pneumatic systems for clamping, safely operate powered hand tools and moving equipment including forklifts and cranes, and adhere to lockout/tagout training requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years as a journeyman tooling technician /tool & die
- preferably in automotive
- Understanding of die stamping processes
- welding tool steels for repairs
- proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Lockout/Tagout training
