Job Summary
Fabricate, repair, and modify dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures while interpreting blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions and tolerances. Operate a variety of machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM machines, and perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs. Troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues to optimize production processes and conduct preventative maintenance on tools and dies to ensure longevity and performance. This role requires 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with proficiency in reading technical drawings and operating manual and CNC machinery.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- completion of a formal apprenticeship or relevant technical degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Demonstrated expertise in operating manual and CNC machinery (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs)
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and various metal properties
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) and perform accurate dimensional inspections
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for design and programming
- Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (e.g., mills, lathes, EDM)
- Demonstrated ability to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues on tooling and machinery
- Experience with precision measurement tools and techniques (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
