Job Summary
Design and build new dies, tools, and fixtures while repairing and maintaining existing tooling. Operate a variety of machine tools, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs, to interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models for precision components. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and dies to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot issues during production. Collaborate with engineers and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes. This role requires 3-5 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker and proficiency in interpreting technical drawings.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training
- 3-5 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Strong knowledge of various metals, their properties, and machining characteristics
- Ability to operate a variety of manual and CNC machining equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with advanced CNC programming (e.g., 5-axis machining, G-code optimization)
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software beyond basic modeling (e.g., surfacing, complex assembly design, simulation)
- Knowledge of metrology and inspection techniques using CMMs or laser scanners
- Experience with additive manufacturing/3D printing for tooling prototypes or specialized components
- Strong understanding of automation principles and robotics as they apply to manufacturing processes
