Job Summary
Coordinate with a lead guide to plan and prepare the environment using Montessori and RIE principles, while managing physical care of children including diapering and toileting. Ensure daily care for every child by following all school procedures, licensing guidelines, and maintaining visual supervision and child safety. Observe and document observations regularly to prepare and maintain the classroom based on children's needs. Provide appropriate communication and feedback to parents, including developmental reports and three annual conferences. Model pro-social behavior using positive discipline strategies and form respectful relationships with families and co-teachers. Meet regularly with co-teachers to discuss observations, environmental design, and curriculum planning. Maintain a professional self-image, keep up with required training hours and certifications, and attend faculty meetings.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years working in an early childhood setting
- Bachelor's degree
- Child development
- Montessori/RIE caregiving techniques
- Skilled in observation techniques and documentation
- Communication skills (oral and written)
- Must be able to lift, move, or hold children with weight up to 60 pounds
- Must be able to observe children from various distances
- Must be able to lift children from various heights
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle or feel
- Must follow all school/ classroom procedures and standards as well as all licensing guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. early childhood education or child development
- MACTE accredited Montessori certification
- 5+ years working in Montessori infant/toddler environment
- Positive Discipline
- Fluency in languages other than english
