Job Summary
Assist designated teacher in a Head Start toddler classroom (ages 2.5-3) by supporting developmentally appropriate activities, preparing materials, monitoring routines, and promoting exploration, problem solving, and socialization. Maintain a safe, clean environment; support meal times and personal hygiene; document observations and contribute to parent/teacher conferences; help with classroom management, transitions, and daily routines; collaborate with staff, parents, and volunteers to meet cognitive, emotional, social, and physical needs of children. Responsibilities include aiding in lesson planning, ensuring program standards are met, assisting with data recording, and participating in staff meetings and professional development. Additional duties may include janitorial tasks as assigned, and providing input for individual goals and child-family outcomes. Knowledge/skills emphasize Early Childhood Development theory, warmth, empathy, professional boundaries with families, English communication, and ability to drive if needed. Must meet Head Start requirements and obtain Pediatric CPR & First Aid within 30 days of employment and a valid Food Handler's Card. Location-based role requires in-person work in Madras, Oregon (US).
