Job Summary
TOA, Native American Specialist shall be responsible for providing supplementary services to eligible Native American students at assigned worksites within the school district. Major duties include consulting with local Native tribes on Title programs, coordinating Tribal Consultations on Title budgets, gathering and monitoring student data, analyzing data to determine program effectiveness, managing grant funding cycles (Title VI and Johnson O'Malley), overseeing certification and enrollment documentation, preparing state and federal reports, monitoring program goals and budgets, recruiting Native American parents for Indian Education committees, supporting Native American Advisors and Youth Councils, promoting awareness and cultural contributions of Native Americans, collaborating with counselors and school leaders to provide quality services, and creating extended learning opportunities (e.g., Saturday school, tutoring, summer enrichment). This role requires a Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred), an Arizona Secondary Teaching Certificate, and at least three years of relevant experience with Native American Education Programs, along with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree; Arizona Secondary Teaching Certificate
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience working with Native American Education Program(s)
- Ability to administer and interpret a variety of education assessment instruments
- Ability to work with students and parents in a variety of situations
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
