Job Summary
Provide direct resident care as outlined on service plans, including assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, oral hygiene, and mobility. Perform well checks, turn and reposition bedridden patients, and monitor vital signs while documenting all services accurately. Assist residents with meals, medication administration, and transportation to activities, ensuring culturally competent care and strict adherence to HIPAA and mandated reporting laws. Answer phones, direct visitors, and maintain equipment including oxygen tanks. Full-time position with flexible scheduling and telework options available. Wage is $17.19 plus shift premiums for nights and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Nursing Assistant
- Must be able to effectively communicate with residents and all members of the health care team
- Good computer skills
- Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements
- State of Michigan Certified Nursing Assistant
- Must be able to obtain HIPAA certification within five business days from date of hire
- Must be able to obtain BLS Certification within probationary period
- Must have a valid Michigan Drivers License
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Drivers License
- Qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements
- Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of nursing procedures and quality of care
- Knowledge of prescribed and over the counter medication doses, side effects, and interactions for all residents
- Knowledge of long term care nursing practices including patient care charts, patient histories, medical terminology, medical instruments, OSHA guidelines, and blood borne pathogens
- Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including Windows Office programs and EHR
- Ability to obtain accurate vital signs
- Ability to react quickly and make effective decisions in an emergency situation
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Normal visual acuity
- Ability to talk and hear
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required
Desired Qualifications
- One year nursing experience
- Experience with older adults
