Job Summary
Lead transmission line design as the overall technical authority, defining and approving all engineering aspects across the project lifecycle. Establish design basis, methodologies, and standard practices aligned with national, international, and client-specific requirements. Provide technical leadership for route alignment, validating surveys, profiles, and drawings to address electrical clearances, ROW constraints, and constructability. Govern electrical and structural design, including conductor selection, tower spotting, span optimisation, and foundation coordination with geotechnical inputs. Review analysis outputs from PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, and PLS-Pole, approving member sizing, load cases, and detailing approaches. Oversee engineering deliverables, lead design reviews and risk assessments, and drive value engineering initiatives. Act as the technical escalation point for site-driven changes and interface with clients, EPC contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. Support bid and tender-stage activities, including scope definition and technical risk identification.
Required Qualifications
- Strong expertise in EHV / UHV transmission line design (110 kV to 765 kV, HVDC preferred)
- Exposure to utility-scale and complex corridor projects
- In-depth understanding of transmission line load cases and reliability conditions
- Knowledge of tower configurations and foundation interfaces
- Understanding of electrical clearances including sag–tension behaviour and construction practices
- Hands-on working knowledge of PLS-CADD
- Hands-on working knowledge of PLS-Tower
- Hands-on working knowledge of PLS-Pole
- Ability to interpret analysis outputs and design results using PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole and STAAD Pro
- Ability to define and drive automation and standardisation strategies across transmission line engineering workflows
- Experience in establishing standard design templates, calculation formats and tool configurations for PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower and AutoCAD
- Capability to identify high-effort or repetitive engineering activities and guide the team in implementing automation, reusable libraries and optimised workflows
- Strong focus on delivery efficiency, quality control and scalability of engineering outputs
