Required Qualifications

• •Bachelors or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational therapy program
• •Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
• •Current certification in Basic Life Support
• •Fine hand dexterity
• •Eye-hand coordination
• •The ability to receive oral and written communication
• •The ability to communicate verbally and in writing
• •The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
• •The ability to recognize alphanumeric characters
• •The ability to distinguish colors
• •The ability to observe physical characteristics
• •The ability to lift up to 75-100 pounds
• •The ability to carry up to 30 pounds
• •The ability to stand for prolonged periods
• •The ability to walk frequently
• •The ability to stoop
• •The ability to squat
• •The ability to perform complete, comprehensive evaluation of patients
• •The ability to accurately interpret evaluation findings
• •The ability to complete a written plan of care
• •The ability to develop goals based on evaluation findings
• •The ability to develop a comprehensive program to attain goals
• •The ability to implement an occupational therapy treatment program
• •The ability to provide basic occupational therapy treatments
• •The ability to demonstrate competency in performing basic occupational therapy skills
• •The ability to supervise COTA's and Rehab Technicians with regards to individual patient care treatments
• •The ability to assess patients periodically to monitor progress towards treatment goals
• •The ability to alter goals, plan or program as indicated
• •The ability to motivate and instruct patients/caregivers using appropriate methods
• •The ability to communicate effectively with patients/caregivers and professional colleagues to include physicians and insurance companies
• •The ability to present relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty
• •The ability to manage time effectively
• •The ability to document appropriately in the medical record
• •The ability to complete other documentation duties accurately and efficiently
• •The ability to serve as Clinical Instructor for OT or OTA interns
• •The ability to ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors
• •The ability to adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service
• •The ability to promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency
• •The ability to support department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization
• •The ability to serve as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff
