Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations, interpret findings, and develop individualized treatment plans to help patients rebuild lives following neurological injuries or trauma. Implement evidence-based occupational therapy treatments while supervising COTA's and rehab technicians for individual patient care. Monitor patient progress periodically to adjust goals and programs, and motivate patients and caregivers using appropriate instructional methods. Communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and professional colleagues to coordinate care, and document all activities accurately in medical records. Manage time effectively to meet productivity standards while ensuring safe care for patients, staff, and visitors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based Occupational therapy program
- Current or temporary License to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- The position requires occasional or frequent lifting up to 75-100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds
- Prolonged standing
- Frequent walking, stooping and squatting
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- The ability to receive oral and written communication
- To communicate verbally and in writing
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Recognize alphanumeric characters
- Distinguish colors
- Observe physical characteristics
